Whitefish Marina

“Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” – James 1:12

Whitefish Marina.

Whitefish Marina is not an official beach – it’s a marina. But there is (for the record) a beach on each side. The marina is just to cool to pass up if you are driving through. It is filled with all kinds of fishing boats that look too old to be floating anymore, and the piers stretch way out into the water at about 15 feet above the lake. A nice place to fish if you have no boat!

And if you’re like me… its a great place to have a little fun. I haven’t checked on the legality of this and am sure it is not allowed to be swimming out there or jumping off the pier… but when the water is as calm as it is in these pictures, and the water blends into the sky on the horizon, and no incoming boats are in sight, and there’s a ladder that appears to be safe for climbing out of the water… Well, you know…

So be sure to check this place out if you go to Whitefish Point. But go swimming at your own risk.

Here’s a Google Map. And here’s the Shoreline Viewer.

Take my camera, watch this...

Yeah... it's about 15 feet high...

But I landed it!

Kinda neat little marina.

The rest of these pics are from a trip a couple years earlier… Water almost as calm, sky just as blue.

Lots of old boats...

Fishing boats.

And they're still used...

Fun.

I love reading this study of yours for 4 reasons:
1: It takes me on a virtual vacation.
2: Your writing is really good! (Interesting and grammatically correct! Can’t help including that fact as I am a teacher.Sorry!)
3: The photos are a nice touch! (Even the ones with you and the beach ball! Good idea!)
4: I love the quotes, especially!
Now just one thing I have to add, as I am a mother: I hope you checked out the depth of the water before you dove into it…you could end up paralyzed or worse.
Have you considered putting all this into a nice book? It would sell well! Good luck to you and never lose your fresh boyish nature!

    • I hardly know where to begin… First, it always brightens my day to hear somebody enjoys my beach blog! I do appreciate that you let me know. Second, I used to be much more fluent as a writer, but 6 years of engineering education has suppressed my creativity and necessitated that I become more systematic (engineer-ish) in my styles. I like to think the Swedes decided how engineers were supposed to write! 🙂 Third, the photos do help make this pretty unique. Fourth, my biggest difficulty was finding quotes I hadn’t already used….

Lastly, you are not the first to mention the possibility of writing a book. It is not on my current list of things to do, unfortunately. That list includes finishing my thesis and getting my masters degrees by year-end. Clearly, the length of time it took me to post all the beaches speaks to the lack of free time in my schedule.

      Thanks again for your comments.

I know you said it isn’t listed as an actual beach but do you think that swimming there would be ok. Not necessarily jumping off the pier but just swimming by the beach. Thanks!

Swimming is certainly okay by the beach! And the water will be nice and calm relative to the water out at Whitefish Point.
